Ella's Song - Sweet Honey in the Rock

  1. Kate,
Our class really enjoyed your video of the day today. Surprisingly we could even watch it! We'll see what happens tomorrow. HA HA
We took a vote and 4/4 kids and 3/3 adults liked your video. We thought we'd send our votes every day we can. We also wonder what your class and other classes think.
Another question we have is why you choose the videos you choose. We were hoping you might stick a little blurb in the blog about why you chose a video and maybe a little information about the video.
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I agree-- I'm going to start showing these to my class! It would be great if you had an area where classes could post if they liked or disliked the song. I'd love to have my kids vote every day and be able to post it on your site.

  3. I was thinking it would be fun if we could share our votes as well. I will see what the students think of the next video.

  4. While I am happy to respond as time allows I am afraid my students' schedules are currently booked! I started this to save myself time and as excited as I can see myself getting about this we just don't have enough minutes in our day! I will try hard to start adding a little more info about why I pick the song and everyone is welcome to comment!

About Kate's Class Video of the Day

The past few years I have shown a video of the day, usually a music video, as a way to increase cultural currency, create a greater connection to age appropriate music for my students with multiple disabilities and reinforce whatever theme we are working on. This school year I found myself struggling each morning to choose a video of the day on the spur of the moment (perhaps I am getting old?). Thus I began this blog so that I can pre-post videos of the day for my students to view at morning meeting. Our routine does not have time at this point for viewing multiple videos daily and voting, although other classrooms like ours are doing so, check out Alicia's Class Video of the Day. Most of these videos will correspond somehow to the Unique Learning System, seasonal holidays/activities or just music we have been talking about or enjoying in the classroom on the radio or our iPod touch.
